Default riding with coolant pump gone

we were out sunday and a buddy lost his coolant pump. i said ride the thing home, but he didn't like that idea. my question is how many people have ridden their bikes with the pump not working ? and how far ? his bike is a 15 ultra.

Ran mine about 45 miles in 88 degree weather at about 55-75 mph. I turned the fairing wind deflectors inward to help get more air to the bike. No I'll effect at all on the 110 motor.
Got it home it cooled down overnight and replaced it the next day.

2015 Limited

Road over 150 miles from Yellowstone to Billings, MT when mine went out at Old Faithful <insert punchline here>.

The alternative was a tow estimated at $1500.

Have ridden 7,000+ miles since then.

150 miles from Nowhere Nevada up to Twin Falls Idaho. No problem but by the time I got to the dealer the coolant was starting to poop out. Snake Harley treated me like a king btw. And luckily I had two days left on warranty.

Have a friend on Run For The Wall who rode his from Santa Fe NM to Washington DC and Back to Kansas City before he could find a replacement pump. Started showing the code on the way into Santa Fe.

Ref Bold: Be clear about what you are saying. I read this to mean that your pump went out 150 miles from Yellowstone. You didn't post mileage about how far it was to where you were going after the pump went out. Was Billings, MT home? Or the nearest dealer?

Also, have you ridden it 7000+ miles since that time with NO REPLACEMENT PUMP? That is what you infer from that statement. If that is the case, I'd also have to wonder why a pump is necessary at all!

Oh, let me fix that ..........

Pump failed at Old Faithful (in Yellowstone). Rode to dealer in Billings to get it fixed. Have ridden over 7000 miles since the repair (which was done under warranty).
