Default Does the fender act as fork brace?

I am thinking about ordering the HD Street Stalker composite front fender for my RGS. Being fiberglass I know it likely won't have the strength of a steel fender, so I'm wondering if the fender acts as a fork brace (reinforcing the fork tube geometry during stress)? My suspicion is no, as the steel fender seemed pretty flimsy, but I wanted to ask the more knowledgeable folks.

Thanks

I'm sure it helped some, and going to a composite fender will eliminate that, so a brace would probably be a good idea.

Thanks. Does anyone make a brace for a bagger fork? Superbrace doesn't. Thats the only one Ive used on all my dynas

Now that I think about it, it probably wont work. The shrouds that ride over the lowers will interfere with any fork brace installed in the traditional manner (clamped at the top of the slider)

Hmm, I guess it'll have to be a fat boy or the wrapped fender HD sells instead.

I doubt the fender braces much of anything. I have Progressive monoshocks in my front end and the fender won't keep the tubes lined up when I remove the front tire. (The sprung leg on a Progressive mono front end is a bit longer than the damped leg) If it wont do that it's not bracing anything.

I've often wondered do these bikes even need a fork brace and how do you know if you need one?

Ever thought about Klockwerks front fenders. Mine is at least 2-3 times more sturdy than the cheap stock Chinese steel/tin. American, heavy duty steel!

That is if you believe everything you read. Compare fender tin to the braces made for a Dyna. Night and day.

The stock front fenders are only slightly thicker than a soda can. There is no way they add any rigidity to the forks.

I doubt if that cheap piece of tin braces ANYTHING. It seems way more flimsy than what came on the pre-Rushmores.
