Since this is a service bulletin, is it a free update or do we have to pay for it?

Also curious whether the actual 'buttons' can be swapped, too ? (I'm guessing not, and I realize its not that important, but thought I'd ask)
The MOCO sells replacement chrome switch caps so you should be able to swap the originals.

They only sell the turn signal extension caps in chrome (which doesn't make sense) but the caps are a separate part number from the switch assemblies and the parts manual shows them coming off so I don't see why they can't be switched.

You call them "buttons" & I call them "switch covers" while the parts book calls them "cap covers" but it's all the same thing.

71500044 KEY CAP, cruise
71500041 KEY CAP, ptt/squelch (except Japan)

Yes, the caps are removable. Don't have to buy anything. Just switch them.

Yea, the buttons can be replaced or swapped. They're a friction fit on the switch "stalks" that simply pull off/push on.

Service manual says when removing them, replace with new, but I think that's because pulling them off with pliers could mar the finish. If done carefully, may be able to swap w/o damage.

Oh, my bad. When I saw 'cover', I thought 'housing'. Peace.
