Default Leaky Primary Drain Plug?

I am finding a spot of oil directly under my primary drain plug.

The underside of the primary was oily when I changed all 3 holes the other day and all of the drain plugs had some type of dope on the threads.

Of course, the warranty ran out the end of August so......

Do you all put dope on the threAds or just change the o rings?

Thread tape and new o-rings. Be sure all drain plugs are tight.

No sealant of any type on any of mine.
The "O-Ring" is what seals it and keeps it from leaking.

Make sure the mating surface is good and clean, and there are no nicks or tears in the o-ring.

I've never had one leak on any of the three plugs.

Well, I guess I'm going to need to watch the primary level until the next change. I sure wish there was a stick to pull.........AND, I hope it's just the plug........

I just use a new O-ring every change and torque the plug to the proper spec. No pipe dope or thread tape. Mine never leaks.

Now you guys have me worried. I'm going to clean it up and confirm where the oil is coming from.

I've never used any kind of dope or tape on any oil plug.......

I always use new o-ring each time I drain it. They are cheap. Just don't over tighten it.
