I pulled the trigger on an Advan Black chopped tour pack recently for my 14 RK. I like it ok other then the standard backrest is mounted 1 1/2" off center which is really unsightly. Wondered if any of you had experienced that.

Anyhoo, after going on a good ride with the wife yesterday I think we've decided a full wrap around is in order. I figure there are better ones out there then the Advan Black offering. I like the looks of the Mustang other then the price. But it says they will only fit the king tour pack.

Which one would you guys reccommend? I have some pics but can's seem to transfer them right now. Any input is appreciated.

 

I left you a pm smokey. Looks are everything, price is next, lol... I would base it on how high the backrest sits. I think the higher the backrest, the more comfortable your ol lady would be. My ol lady hd lower back surgery years back. The chopped backrest vibrated her old injury. The HD backrest I got sits a lot higher on her back and gives her full support.

 

I would almost bet the reason they say "only fits king", is because the holes are pre-drilled.

The actual lid of each tour pack is the same.

I know you can put the HD full wrap around backrest on a chopped tour pack.
You just need to drill different holes.
There are several out there that have done this.

 

Thanks Guys, Yea, I've been seeing quite a few full wrap around King backrests on chopped tour packs. I figure I can make it work. I'll post a few pics of it when I get it on there.

 

Just spoke to Sam at AdvanBlack and told him my problem with the off center standard backrest. I told him I would like to switch to a King wrap around backrest to remount to the lid I have.

He said he would just send me a new lid with the King wrap around already mounted and he would send me a parcel ship label to send the other one back. So Kudos for AdvanBlack!!

Stretched saddlebags might be on my horizon after all.

 

We had the the wrap around backrest from them and the wife hated it. She said it was too hard so we put the hd wrap around on and all is well.

 

I guess since it is going to be on the house. I'll just go with the AdvanBlack full wrap. If it don't suit, I'll probably go with an HD offering.

Advan said it would be about 10 day to get my new lid and backrest as, they are going to have to paint one for me. Thanks Again
