Completed Install Yaffe Monkey Bars on 2017 CVO Limited
#11
Okay I left this out. My funny for the day. Yeah you guys can go ahead and laugh at me!
Went to pull the seat off and have done that a hundred times on the touring bikes I have owned. However none before had a heated seat. Well I almost jerked the electrical fitting off. Fornunately was moving slowly and caught it before I ripped it off. Disconnected it and set the seat aside.
Well I totally forgot about the connection for the seat during re-assembly right?
I put the fuel tank on, reconnect the two connectors, connect the battery leads and button up the ECM, etc. However there is a connector, light gray in color and I have nothing to connect to it? I search and search. I was positive that this was not a connector the dealer used and finally said to my self, oh well it is for something I am unaware of. I put the two hard bags on and plug in those electrical connectors and head over to pick up the seat and install it. Immediately I see the fitting hanging below the seat and "Sha Zam" I knew what the connector was for. Crazy how it tripped me up in both removal and re-assembly!
Moral of the story is handle bar installation is easy, but be aware of that tricky heated seat connection!

Great write up. lot better than mine. I did this last year on my Road King with Reapers and I didn't have nearly the detail you have. This will help a lot of guys. I thought I would post this pic since I read where some guys have trouble getting the bushing started. I also bought Drag specialties, Highly recommended.
I used this big C clamp to get the bushing "seated" and then the hardware on the risers tightened up. Easy Peasy.

These bars are not as comfortable as the Wild 1 WO578's but they look MUCH better. We rode 167 miles today which included 50 miles of Interstate, two lane state roads and the Blue Ridge Parkway. I like them and the wife LOVES them. She kept looking over my shoulder and gave me a Thumbs up for looks!
Looks GREAT!

UPDATE
I liked installing the bars so much I did it a second time!!!!!!!!! LOL
Yes for an unknown reason the factory CVO heated grips would not work after the install of the handle bars.
Frankly they looked good but were extremely uncomfortable. The stock black Limited grips I had on my 2016 were perfect for my small hands.
I bought the standard heated grips. Took the bars off and put the new heated grips in. It was actually harder in my option getting the wires though the second time.
Good news I completed the project today around 5pm. All the time the wife was shining and polishing everything on the bike.
Fired her up and everything works perfectly including the heated grips.
I actually like the look of the standard stock grips. Call me strange. The CVO grips are stupid expensive and they are tapered and increase in diameter near the switch controls.
Much happier now! Looks like mid 50's and sunny tomorrow. I plan to ride after church God willing.
