Default Shifter Sticks While Down Shifting

2015 Ultra. When down shifting between 3rd and 2nd and especially between 2 and 1st, by shifter doesn't spring back to the neutral position. It's intermittent and doesn't do it when the motor is off and manipulating the shifting by hand. Did a search here but couldn't find anything. Anyone else had this problem? What's the fix?

If going to the other gears doesn't present a problem, that says the spring is ok. You might just have a lubrication problem in the linkage.

Have you checked/changed the primary and/or tranny oil lately?

Mine does that if I'm lazy about raising my foot off the lever when downshifting. I do it a few times a ride... I'm a slow learner.

Just changed both fluids. Didn't help.

Like Eastern pointed out, take out and grease your shifter shaft. Pretty common issue.

I'll bet that will solve your problem.

This, if you don't take foot off completely, it will do it

Default Heel Shifter Eliminator

If you removed your heel shifter and added the shaft cover, check to make sure that you didn't slide the toe shifter to tightly against that cover. I did and mine acted the same as you describe.
