Attended IMS in Minneapolis last weekend and Harley was giving away Bluetooth wireless headsets. I'm confused. I have a 2016 FLHTK do I need the interface module? Or will the Bluetooth feature of the Limited work with the headsets just as it does with my iPhone?

 

I'm going to guess no, based on my '17 RG. Your infotainment system has a bluetooth receiver, but no bluetooth transmitter. That is what the WHIM is for. I'm sure someone will come along, if that is not correct. HOWEVER, the headset will connect directly to your Iphone, but your handlebar controls will not work.

 

He is correct, you will need the WHIM to comment to the bike.

Having said that, I would like some additional info on Harley giving away Bluetooth headsets - to who were they given, etc?

 

Shortly after the show opened on Saturday Harley was announcing people could form a line to receive a free Bluetooth headset while the supply lasted. Not sure if they started with 50 or more, at one point I heard they had 50 left and staff was counting people in the line...fewer than 50 of us at that point. Had to fill out address, email etc. and then was handed a boxed ear bud style headset. Searching online today I saw them for sale for as little as $15.

 

Ahhh...that seems to make more sense. Based on your original note, I wrongfully assumed you were referring to the EVO 20 - that unit is about $550 for a dual set.

I couldn't imagine they were giving those away.

What model headset were they giving away

 

I should not have referred to them as a headset. The box says Bluetooth Wireless Earbuds with MIC. Don't find them listed in the Harley catalog I picked up. Here's a link to a picture https://www.ebay.com/i/372155687803?chn=ps

 

I bought the Sena 20S, Freewire and the wiring harness that allows routing the Free to the tour pak. I never installed them. Instead I bought the Harley WHIM and installed it. Works good but I am crazy for not using the Freewire and 20S. Now I think I will post them on the Market Place. Yes you need the interface.

 

This was the unit that they were giving away with a $300 purchase. I have 2 sets from my dealer.
