Dbl Gauge Swap?

Dbl Gauge Swap?
Say I buy new HD black face gauges for my scooter. My understanding is at after around 30 miles the ECM will reset them to the actual miles on my bike.
At this point I have the stock silver face gauges and the black ones on the bike, could I swap back when traded or sold, to the silver face gauges, since there were the original, would they then reset to my actual mileage?
What if I sold the silver face set would it be an issue putting them in another bike or would they just reset after about 30 miles?
Thinking about spending into the refund!

I don’t think once it’s married there’s a way to “divorce” it.
Btw, I have the black gauges myself. They are awesome.

Once you install the black face gauges and after the 30 mile countdown those gauges will be married to that VIN# and will show the correct mileage, the mileage is stored in the ECM/BCM, if you changed back to the silver face gauges the correct mileage will be shown on them also.
The silver face gauges in your bike are married to your VIN# if they are put into another bike where the mileage would be it will say "VINERROR" and there is no way to correct this, so if you sold the bike , you might as well let them have the silver face gauges also.

Thanks to all ... but it kills the notion and selling point to the OL that I can sell the old stuff. Maybe gaugemods is the way to go...then again the like the factory look and its only about a $130 difference..something to think about over a Myer's and Coke.
Enjoy the ride...

Just to say, you can still sell the other 3 gauges, they don't care what bike they are installed in. Someone will always be looking for a tach or fuel, or volt gauge i'm sure...
Get the black. They look great...
I put them about 5 minutes after buying my Road Glide.
