Default Captive nut for the seat

Has anyone replaced the captive nut the bolt that holds the seat to the rear fender. The snap ring broke on mine and of course you have to buy the whole thing. The only way I see to do it is to either take off the rear tire or remove the fender.

I've done it before by simply using a ty-rap inserted through the nut. Then slide the tail of the ty up under the fender and into the the hole. Install the circlip and then drop the ty back out. You now have an uncle named Bob

If you still have the nut part can't you get the snap ring from a hardware shop?

Is it easy on your bike to remove the bottom or top shock mounting bolts and allow the swing and wheel to drop to gain access?

Amazon for the parts. Drop the new nut on to a 12-14" tie-wrap and just go up between the tire and fender and thread the end thru the fender hole. Once it's clipped in just drop the tie-wrap and it will fall right back out.

Amazon Amazon

The Amazon part doesn't look to be keyed. What is going to stop it turning when doing up the screw?

Use a coat hanger if you don't have a wire tie long enough.

It is keyed, I have personally bought them, not just looked them up. 5th picture on their website shows it keyed.

use a big zip tie to align the new unit in the fender ,, no need to take the tire off

I know you've gotten numerous recommendations to use the zip-tie trick and I agree so here's a video:
