Hey Xmen9c, have you figured out which front end you’re going with? Ness?
These would be perfect

I agree, those are cool but I believe I may just have my stock front end powder coated black (save some $ for some other stuff) and possibly go with the cowbells that have that look. Can get these for about $65 on eBay.

Default Factory 47 Bars Ordered & Bag Guards Installed

Ordered 14" Assault Bars in Glossy Black last night and got shipping confirmation today from Factory 47!

I know its the wrong fairing pic for a 2015 SGS but it was the only pic that kinda shows the right size. Gotta decide on grips in next few days too. Should be able to install using all stock cables and wires per their install video on their site too. Bag guards on! Got these on eBay too and the fit and finish were perfect! Thought about the guards from Factory 47 but at $450 vs. $125 for these, it was a no-brainer.

Debating going with a powder coat of my engine guard or just buying a black one on eBay from same seller as guards. Price is pretty reasonable ($75 - shipped to my door). Not sure what powder coating would run me but how much less than that could it be?

Its starting to take shape.

Some more odds/ends coming next wk and then the Handlebar Job... It'll be my first attempt at those. If I get stuck I have a buddy who owns his own shop and has done several other bar jobs for me in the past. After those, Seat, Front end and Passing lights, Rear light bar (powder coating and license plate holder) then we'll see about stretched bags and a matching tourpack. Will post more as things progress.

Did some shuffling around in the garage today to get the SGS up on the lift for the upcoming handlebar job. While it was up there I added the HD Dark Custom Horn cover, some Rocker Box Bolt covers and a set of Mid-Frame Air Deflectors. Will be adding the Dark Custom Primary and CAM covers too.

Will be removing the engine guard, control levers and rear signal light bracket for PC and start some disassembly prep work for the bars. If I am feeling especially ambitious I will remove the fork legs and cowbells for powder coating too.

It’s really looking good buddy! When I bought mine, my wife and I really wanted to get rid of the chrome too. Ended up going the easy route, and staying contrast. My hats off to you for doing it.

Thanks! The contrast look is my favorite. There will be a balance of chrome/black and contrast aluminum when its all finished.

Best Avatar on the forums BTW.

Started tear down for bars and front end. I hope whoever owned this bike before me got rent for the critter nest in the faring...

Front end off. Not too bad.
Critter nest?
Will get bars and rest of fairing off later/this week.

Gotta get some stuff ready for Powder Coating and dropped off to my Wrench.

Miscellaneous Powder Coating Black (Gloss black polyester for UV protection:
o Rear fender turn signal bracket.
o OEM front lower fork sliderso Saddlebag latch handles
o OEM fairing vent trim piece.
o Visor style passing lamp trim rings
o OEM headlight trim ring.
o Tank Console.

Also gonna have my wrench wire up the Auxillary lighting bracket as well. Hopefully I can get the bars installed while that stuff is being PC'd so I'll be ready to roll to put that stuff back on when its done.

Never thought I was much of a fan of White, but I'm diggin the look with the black and contrast cut and a bit of chrome. My own scooter is in a similar state.

Turnsignals F & R
Trans side and top covers
Handlebars
& some smalls
off for gloss black PC

Front end off for suspension work
