10,000 mile service
Call to set up an appointment to get 10000 service and ask about the cost. Over $400!!! I ask what they did?? All 3 fluids! My manual list tranny for 20,000. Hummm? Change spark plug and have to pull the tank. Humm? Manual said every 2 years or 30,000 Miles. Call another dealer, same story. He said their service manual is different than the owners manual. I find this to be dishonest and really pisses me off. Am I alone?? I usually do my own service but warranty is still on and the compensator is noisy. Want a record that the primary has been serviced. Guess they’ll get get to “rape” me a few times. 😡

Here are some specific suggestions for you:
1) The shop manual and owners manual are not different. Same schedule only more info in shop manual. They are lying to you.
2) you should have no problems with 25K on the plugs if you have left the bike stock. I changed mine early, at 25000, and it didn't really need it. And no, you don't have to pull the tank on a twin-cam touring bike. Unless you have 6 thumbs on each hand.
3) Changing the primary oil yourself will not void warranty. Use the recommended lubricant which is Formula plus. Save your sales reciept. Take 3 pictures and save them: the lubricant bottles; the odometer; the drain pan sitting under the primary with the oil in it.
If they give you back talk, tell them 'say hello to my little friend' - your lawyer. Chances are good you just got a dump service writer at the shop counter.

Forgot to mention I have the 2017 Milwaukee Eight engine. I understand I can do the service myself. Have alway did it on my 2009 and 2014. Just want the primary done by the dealer so I won’t have any dispute. Had a complete engine rebuilt on my 2014 with 2 week left on my warranty. The dealer I use has a new owner so I have no experience on how they are to deal with. The point of my post was to see if any one else had their plugs changed and tranny fluid changed with the 10000 mile service.

I have always changed all 3 at 5k , plugs get replaced every year plus I carry spare one, kept my receipts until it went out of warranty, if you buy fluids and filter from dealer he has the parts tickets on his computer.. I assume you will buy Harley brand since your quoting dealer service...who cares what the dealer says.....if your going to ride a Harley...man up and service it yourself...
