Noisy Primary after fluid change

Thanks for the replies everyone. I was/am surprised that changing to a synthetic fluid would cause so much noise in the primary. It is reassuring to hear that others have had the same experience, and just a simple fluid change makes it quiet once again. I plan to change it in the next few days.

The 2016’s have a narrower primary cover and 32oz’s is correct.I use my primary as a place to put in my left over oils.Its all 20w50 but it’s a mix of oils.Valvaline,lucas etc and all synthetic and I have no issues. I also fill it the the bottom of the diagram with bike standing Straight up.Ive also ran 10w40 semi synthetic with no issues.

Redline is a good product. Just for the heck of it I tried the primary lube in my 2007. I noticed more noise also. That does not meant it not doing the job.
HD F+ is equal to about a 50W oil so it would maybe be a bit quieter.
I have run 20/50 syn in primary mainly just to get rid of some of the different oils and lubes sitting around, had no issue with SYN in primary.
F+ has served a lot of people well for a long time.

The 2015 FLHX (SG) has the standard (prior to 2016) primary cover. The 2016 FLHX (SG), like all of the 2016 touring bikes, has the narrower primary cover that originally came standard on the "Low" models. 32 oz is correct.

Just a quick update. I picked up some Formula + yesterday, and found some time today to drain the Redline primary oil and put in the Formula +. Took the bike for about a 90 mile ride after the change, and am glad to report that the primary is once again back to making it's normal sounds. Thanks again for all the responses to this thread. Ride safe......

As the title says, I just changed the fluids in all 3 holes. Amsoil in the motor, Redline heavy shockproof in the transmission, and Redline V twin primary fluid. After the change, the primary is very noisy. It is most noticeable when idling in neutral on the sidestand. Not sure if the sound is coming from the compensator or the chain, it sounds like a metallic rattling sound. The sound does not change if I pull in the clutch lever, so I am kind of ruling out the clutch at this point. It was very quiet until I changed the fluid about 25 miles ago. I put the recommended 38 oz of fluid back in it. Bike is a mechanically stock 2015 SGS with about 6500 miles on it. I am the second owner, and have only had it for a little over 3 months. I bought it from a dealer, and don't have the service history.
The fluid that I drained out of the primary when I changed it was a little dirty, and there was a small amount of metallic dust on the magnetic drain plug, but nothing unusual. And the primary was very quiet until I put the Redline in it. At this point, I am probably going to drain the Redline out of the primary and put something else back in it. I don't think the primary fluid had ever been changed, as it is a low mileage bike. It probably had whatever they put in it at the factory. Hopefully, the noise will go away after I change to another type of fluid.
