I just last week installed my second set of AE on my 2016 Ultra Classic. I can't tell any difference at all between the factory installed AE with the HD Brand, and the two sets of AE tires I've purchased off Amazon. These are fantastic tires. They last long time. Though they are very stiff and heavy compared to the tires I put on my Yamaha FJR, they are fairly easy to spoon onto the stock wheels. I'll never use anything else.

I spoke to a Dunlop rep at the Motorcycle show in February. He explained that the Dunlop stock tire that comes on new HDs was built to HD specs. Dunlop made a few suggestions to HD ....BUT....HD said they wanted a tire to the specs as they submitted. After they built the HD stock tire Dunlop continued to make their own improvements to HD specs and developed their own tire for Harley's and named it "American Elites"........long story short, the Dunlop rep strongly recommended the "American Elites" over the original stock Dunlop.
Dunlop has a $50-$75 REBATE on American Elites until April 30th....check the Dunlop Motorcycle tire website to get a rebate form.

Thanks for this information! I did not know. The $50 rebate will pay for my TWW deductible.

Another vote for American Elite. Not getting the extremely high miles others have stated ...but like the tires nonetheless.

Great tire. It's what I always switch to after wearing out the OEM's. I like the OEM's but I'm not going to pay HD dealership prices for it. I order AE's from Riders Domain..formerly Jake Wilson. Best prices I found & then have my Indie mount them.

I'm running AE on my bike and am very happy with them. Check the Dunlop web page, they run rebates on them sometimes. I got them online and they had a $40 rebate.

Default I Run AE's on a 2014 Limited

At 14000 miles I replaced the original HD tires on my 2014 Ultra Limited with a set of AE's. I just turned 28,000 miles on the bike today, so i now have 14K on the AE tires. They appear to be wearing a little better than orginal, which I would expect. I don't know about the specifics of the tread rubber compound but if you really look into the details of the tire you'll find AE's have a little thicker tread on them. I seem to recall the original HD tires came with 6/32nd tread depth and the AE's cam with 7/32nd - so you would expect them to last a little longer. Load carrying capacity was essentially equal as I recall. Handling has been satisfactory for me - ok now an good when new. Of course every set of tires I have ever had felt good when brand new.
