It was. Glance at the thread there's couple more pics and several guys that had issues with the tire.
To be fair, the other people with issues also had a lot of miles on them, you at 15k, another beyond 16k, one person at 11k...I really wouldn’t consider it an “issue” if the cracks are appearing at the times when the tires are already in need of replacement.

I would concur as well..If it's at its end of life then it's just wear...
The guy that mounts my rubber had his Elite do the same thing, probably worse. He rides a late 90s EGlide which has a narrower rear tire. We compared manufacture dates with mine which I just wore out and his was almost a year older. Could have been a issue with certain batches. I'm about half way through my second rear Elite with no issue.
When I wear out the OEMs on my 2018 I will be going back to the AEs. I just donot feel confident on the OEMs, the feel like they don't hold the road like the AEs. I had a Commander 2 on my Ultra when I crashed. Felt like the *** end slid out from under me where the AE never even felt like it would wiggle.

Yes to be fair I like the AE tires, they felt stable on wet and dry and i was confident riding two up. They never answered my emails so that was the main reason for changing brands.
Actually it took several thousand miles before the new commanders started to feel stable with enough rubber on the ground. Just putting the info out there but in reality the next set will be back to the dunlop AEs.

I’ll admit, it definitely helps man. At least now when I get a set, I’ll be sure to start checking the tires more often than I do once I’m getting up there in miles, say past 8k on them. I wouldn’t want to be the guy that has the chunk blow out of them while cruising 65.
