Default Fork Oil Substitute

Going to change out my fork oil. Most threads say use th HD SE 10w oil. Anyone use a different brand of the same weight and get the same or better results?

you can use any 10wt for oil, , there are lots of brands, for our application I cant see it making any performance difference, the Ohlins oil I use in my dirtbikes does make a slight difference, but it's very expensive, on our dinosaur HD's I'm sure about anything would be just fine. any bike shop like a cycle gear will have several brands.

Bel-Ray, Maxima, Yamaha, Honda, Motorex, Motul, oils work well. Pick your flavor. If you want to support US go with Bel-Ray

If my recollection is correct I believe the stock oil is 5W, the SE (Screamin' Eagle) 10W will increase the compression and rebound damping on the stock forks. You could even go to a 15W if you find the 10W to still not damp well enough. Any of the brands that vizcarmb listed would work just fine. I've used BelRay, Maxima and Honda in the past.

I have been using the Harley Sceamin Eagle fork oil. I believe that is a little heavier than what comes in the forks. Stops a lot of the fork diving under braking.

I have been thinking about going with the Bel-Ray 7wt fork oil when I change mine.
