Default Getting on and it up full dressers

Just wondering how some of you think how is the best way to get on your dresser and lift it off the center stand.Im 64 and have lower back pain from years of working on heavy equipment so just throwing a leg over my 18 Ultra and lifting it off the stand can hurt.I have come up with my best way so whats yours?

You might want to look into fixing the cause of the pain. Chiropractor would be a good place to start. Then think about some strength training. Nothing extensive but just basic workouts for total body strength. Start slow and build from there. It will improve your life, not just riding. Are you overweight or have a big gut? Those things contribute greatly to lower back pain.

While the Ultra weighs 800+ lbs, you're only lifting less than a 100 off of the stand.

If is continues to be a problem, have you thought about a trike?

Good luck!

Yup, with the front turned all the way to the left, right foot on the right side floorboard, left leg over the seat, left foot either onto the left floor board until you are seated or just drop into the seat. Straighten the bars and hoist off the center stand from there...maybe even turn the bars to the full lock right but I have never tried that.

Also, passenger can get on first in the same way. Once in the rider seat (driver seat?) they can scoot back pretty easy.

My rider training a while ago was 'always get on and off from the left...no exceptions.' Police motor officers are taught to get on from the right as noted above to keep them out of traffic. My wife thinks the left side entry and exit is coming from riding horses but she said you can get on any way you want because the 'iron horse' doesn't care. Smart lady...

If you turn the bars all the way to the right it makes lifting off the stand much easier

At my first Motor Officer School in 1972 the trainer showed us how to mount from the right or high side of the motorcycle. I've been mounting my ride the same way ever since. Step on the right floor board with my right foot and stand up while at the same time swing my left leg over the seat to the left side floorboard and I'm on the bike. Here is a YouTube;

Exactly. A little leverage goes a long way if you are having one of those days where you are dragging.
