Need for Mods...WHY?
#81
I modded the heck out of a 1996 Camaro Z28 years ago and it was awesome on an autocross course and track day course. But it was beyond miserable on a road trip or around town. I sold it. I now have a bone stock Vette and it's staying that way.
People can mod or not mod, it's Ok. Personally, the only mods I make to my RK are for utility and comfort. I have permanent ringing in my ears from hearing damage (small planes without hearing protection, guns, age, etc.)

My first mod (windshield) was to move the air stream off my forehead to over my helmet.
My second mod (garish gas cap cover) was to decorate (and arguably improve) the looks of the bike.
My third mod (Power Commander V and dyno tune) was to boost hp and torque for better performance and easier 2-up riding.
My fourth mod (highway pegs) was for comfort on long rides.
My next mod (a new or rebuilt seat) will also be for increased comfort on long rides.

That is wha tI read through when I see these old guys bitching about **** like this. They don't have the money or the ability to play around so they try to **** on others. I always make sure my bike is spotless showing off all my chrome bits before going to an event and let them hate. There are a few guys (3 notables) on this thread that bitch about everything. I look at it like Golf. I was very good playing tournaments and found that i didn't enjoy it anymore. solved that problem real easy.

We do mods to improve performance, not to outperform. While that 600 may be faster, you don’t want to take it on a 2k mile ride. Much easier to improve the handling and power of a Harley than to make a sport bike into a comfortable touring bike. I like my Harley and I like improving it’s performance for my desired tasks.
