My RGU is about 1.5 years old and I have never had an issue with that part. I also have never had a reason to take it off so that may have something to do with it

I've removed mine and replaced it several times without incident. What procedure are you following?

Seriously dude the new one will be just as sad as the old one, put a couple of dabs of clear silicone on the underside near where the tab used to be and you'll be golden. And unlike using superglue you will be able to get it off again if need be without damaging any finishes. Worst case scenario the fix doesn't work then you're in for $$

What do you use for an ignition switch now? What did you use to cover up the hole?

With the newer alarm systems the dealer can load a CVO flash that eleminates the use of the ignition switch and when the fob is near bike the run switch powers up the bike like the ignition switch would have. After the flash the switch does nothing but lock the neck. After pulling the switch housing there is just the hole in the top tree. I might get a second top tree to shave, smooth, fill and powder for a cleaner looking top tree.

I want to add that I also do not have the stock gauge bezel or any other plastic housing on my setup because I went to a MX bar style and relocated my gauges.

I am sute with a little creativity, someone could fab up a nice little cover to clean up the stock bezel when the switch is removed.

I just broke my tab too. The only solution I see here is to try silicone. I know one thing.....i'm not buying another one for $78.

I broke my tab this past weekend while changing out my handlebars. The OEM part runs from $66 - $78; that's too much to pay. I've found some on eBay for $15 but they're all matte black and mine is gloss. I tried the silicone solution and the switch cover rattled loose on a ride today. Anyone know where to find a gloss black one that won't break the bank?
