Default Ingintion switch delete possible?

Is it possible to delete the ignition switch all together? I vaguely remember sitting on a Harley a few years ago that did use a key and only required the fob to be within range to activate the bikes system. If possible, I would like to do this with the RG and remove the ignition switch all together.

If this is possible, can someone provide some direction to how to go about it?

The new Softtails are like this? No key just fob. I don't know how you would or could implement it in a bike but should be possible.

Were you sitting on a CVO?

Like this one. Key is only needed to use the steering lock.

You need to look up the definition of “vaguely”.

Anyway, the OP in this thread says a flash can delete the need for the ignition switch.

Why do I need to look up the definition of vaguely? Is the word used in the video? If so, I wouldn't know, the laptop I am on has no sound ability (work device) and my service sucks for steaming when a few hundred miles off shore. I don't expect you to know that, just mentioning it.

What I do know is that the Sportster I sat on at my local dealer, I looked for the ignition because the only place to put a key was the steering lock. The salesman told me that all that was needed was the fob to activate the systems once the run switch is turned on.

It is my understanding that some touring models can have the CVO flash so the key switch is no longer needed. This is something I will be asking my dealer about when I make land fall in a few days.

Thanks for the link too.

Nevermind, I went back and read my original post and now know why you said vaguely. When I made the post I didn't remember what model it was. It wasn't until I found that video that I remembered it being a Sportster.

Anyways, thanks for the help.

I bought a CVO dash for my 14 RK and it had a lighted disc in the spot for the ignition. I figured it was a resistance value the BCM was looking for. I measured the resistance on the ignition switch and was going to try to look for a resistor to put in place and then I just figured I would put the ignition switch in there since the disc had some of the LED backlighting out on some of the words in the disc. I didn't pursue it any further.

After talking with my dealer, some alarm systems allow the biked to be programed to eleminate the need for the ignition switch. My alarm allowed this, so now I can totally remove the ignition switch and its housing.
