Default Lower Fairing Vent Door Slider

Hey folks,

Right side one has come loose. Does not move the vent. 2015 Ultra Limited. Is there a simple fix if someone has experienced this? How hard is it to remove front part of the fairing to access it. I have the service manual....it's not very clear. Trying to avoid taking it to the dealer. Thanks.

Mine did that. Was an easy fix. Make sure the slider is still hooked up to the door mechanism arm. Mine popped off. Didn't have to take anything apart or off the bike.

That's what it looks like on mine. But I can't get to it...reservoir in the way. How did you fix it? Thanks.

Yeah, I just noticed your bike. Mine is a SGS. No reservoir to worry about.

I did find this on you tube. Not sure if it will help with yours or not

Im not trying to hijack and its related. Are your sliders really stiff? I have to start the door with my hand.

Same here. Since I only open and close them for summer and winter, I haven't tried to figure out what's causing the problem. But, if someone has an easy fix, I'm all ears.

Actually no. They have worked great. I can easily changed them (well...the left one now) with ease going down the highway.

I'm in same boat with sliders hard to slide. I sprayed silicone in general area and that helped a bit. but gotta tear apart and fix soon.

You can get in there, it's a tight fit though. The rod probably just popped off the lever (mine did).
I actually hit both sides of mine with WD40 with a nozzle extension. All of the moving parts are all plastic, but the WD really seemed to help the ease of operation.

I live in Ohio and have to open and close mine quite often.

Fixed it. The old style way with a metal coat hanger to pull it up into the round slot that it had popped out of. Relieved.
