Is it impossible to get good service anymore?

Yes, that is unacceptable! You defiantly need to bring it to their attention, as if they don’t know, there is no chance things like this will be corrected.
I will say this:
My local dealer WAS horrible, and I refused to go there, for warranty service, or to buy bikes.
I went in for a simple warranty fix since the other one I was using was booked for 2 weeks and found now that the GM retired, and the owner took on that role. It’s a whole new place that went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. I am pretty happy about this since they are only 10 min down the road from me.
Hopefully they have a manager or owner that cares, but they need to be made aware.

Substandard service at dealerships are not limited to HD. Took my Ducati in for oil change and chain adjust. Rode it home a few miles and after an hour I went out to the garage to check it over which is my normal habit. Found the oil was overfilled by 3/4 quart and chain was extremely loose. Dealers don't give a crap no matter what brand you have. Always check the work a dealer performs....preferably before you leave the dealership!

Wheel weights aside, we all know how hard it is to do a proper cleaning of the rear wheel on a bagger. I have always thought a tech (or dealer) that took the extra two minutes to show enough pride in their work to clean your rear wheel for you during a tire change........well I would just feel so much better about the one hour labor charge. Don't they want me to be a happy guy?

There is great service in my attached garage I am the only customer though! I use balancing beads so I don't need to use weights. I would let them know what thappened instead of the hassle of trailering it back. Do you an Indy there? There is an excellent one here in VA Beach. Oceana Cycles. I will bring my stuff there if I had to before any of the 4 local dealerships.

Find an independent shop. Plenty of them around. The shop I use charges 1/2 the price of the "dealer" and quality work. I just changed out handlebars, install true track, install new shocks, install new motor guard. Less $500 for labor and the price included switch wire extenders and new solid bushings.
