Default Another WHIM question

When the WHIM (Wireless headset interface module) is installed on a 2017 Ultra Limited with XM and CB, does the wired (corded) system still function? The reason I ask is because I prefer the wired communications when 2up. But when my wife and I are each on our own separate bikes then wireless communication seems to be the most sensible was to communicate.
Is it true that once I install the WHIM on my touring bike then using the wired option is no longer allowed?

Impact of Retrofit on Wired Microphone Functionality: Upon installation of the WHIM, your motorcycle’s wired microphone functionality will no longer be available. However, wired audio will continue to function as before.
Right off the HD web page.

Once you have the bike flashed to recognize the WHIM, the wired option is no longer an option.

Asked and answered. Thank you both. Guess I will rig up a couple of helmets with Sena's. This way we will be able to ride corded 2up with existing helmets and then when riding 2x solo use helmets with wireless communications.

I know we have covered this a million times - just wonder why Harley would do that. Suppose you are on a long trip and the WHIM battery dies or something like that. Would be nice to go to wired.

Thanks - I was implying the battery needed to run the headsets. Some folks have said they only stay charged a few hours - based on what you are doing (music, cb, connect with other bikes, etc)

The HD branded 30K headset is rated for up to 13 hours talk time. Full charge time is 1.5 hours, 20 minutes gives you up to 5 more hours. If you're worried about your battery dying, simply charge it as you ride when it does go, you can probably endure an hour or so of silence.
If that's not acceptable, stay with the wired.

ours last for days and days , never an issue. I cant imaging why anyone would want a cord, it’s not 1990 lol

I prefer a wired headset. I plug it in, it works, every time. On top of that cats are selling thier brand new wired headset relatively cheap, and I have A LOT of helmets with a wired headset on everyone.
