Default Decated headpipe and FP3

Just decated my headpipe and a maintenance man at the wife’s work welded it back up for me. He is an old school auto guy and highly advised me not to put the headpipe on. That it will eventually damage the motor. I have an FP3 and am going to put the decated pipe on this weekend. He got me thinking though, is there a possibility of damaging the engine with a decated pipe. Also have slip on 4 in Reinharts.

Plenty of members on here running a stock header with the cat removed and no issues. There might be a issue with the FP3 and crosstalk between the o2 sensors. However, there are plenty of threads about that, and you could give FP3 support a call.

Should not be an issue. I would contact V&H and let them know exactly what you have and they will build you the correct tune that will work for your bike. I believe it can all be done through email from your FP3 and phone.

I used to have decatted pipe on mine prior to swich to Cobra header and ran fine with FP3. I had set as v&h PowerDuals with one of their slipon combos.

They will probably tell you, and they are right, buy a head pipe designed without a cat that will work with the FP3. I know it cost more than decatting the stock pipe, but if you want it right, do it right.
