Rattle can $240 paint job...
Just a little more polishing to do on the saddlebags, then a good coat of wax. Have to paint the tourpak and lowers yet, came out real nice. Lots of wet sanding and rubbing compound. Started with 500, 1500, 2000, then rubbing compound, then polishing compound.

Did you rattle-can clear on there too? Just a suggestion.

I’ve been throwing the idea around to do this. Especially since you can order the 2k clear in a can. Paint is paint regardless if it’s sprayed out of a gun or a can. The clear is the main problem. The 2k type clear that is 2 part will hold up much better on gas tanks and won’t turn yellow from sun exposure.

Hahaha,, right on! It only took me so long because it was in the winter, and although I have supplemental heat in the garage, when it gets really cold, it doesn't stay that warm, so I can't paint below say 55. It gets too much orange peel. . Plus due to space, I painted each piece, or pieces separately. ie..front fender, both heat shield, both side covers, tank etc. Prep wasn't very much. Just wet sanded the pinstrips and scotchbrite the rest. Paint the part(s), let set 3-4 days, then you can wet sand. I suppose you can get it done in a couple of weeks if the weather cooperates and you stick with it.
