error code B2164 - brake lamp output overload
hey folks
2014 street glide - Canadian bike , had installed today new rear turn signal bar and the lower tri bar on bottom of fender . professionally installed
i got red code light a few hundred feet up the road , tripped a body control module code . had it reset again and went home .
tripped code again so i scanned with my VH Fuelpack and showed code B2164 -brake lamp output overload .
i haven't had a chance to ride again since clearing today
i was curious if anyone has had this ? the new lower tribar never used to light installed the upgraded one . all parts are from HD
is it a case of BCM needs to see these and learn? possible relay ?
appreciate any input - thanks

I've got a Canadian 15 Streetglide. I added the Custom Dymanics tribar light with no issues. Then I added a pre Rushmore tour pak and had a similiar issue with the brake light tripping the computer. I don't recall getting a code though, I just needed to shut the ignition off and it would reset. I fixed the problem by installing LED bulbs in the tour pak.

You paid for the labor, I'd take it back to the installer. You attempt to troubleshoot it, they could say you screwed it up.
I'd suspect they pinched a wire, have a bulb seated wrong, or bent and smashed a connector pin.
That's the up side of a BCM, it can detect over currents and opens, and in the case of over currents, shut the output driver down, or limit the current to a safe level.

Nope, I was standing right there when the dealer adjusted the BCM, nothing was touched on my bike after the connection was made to their computer. It was all done on their screen and then restart the computer in my bike. I installed the tribar light myself which was simply remove the empty factory one and install the new one with the same factory wiring connectors. And the tour pak wiring was done by making up a pigtail harness which was done by a local company, it taps into the connector under the seat where the brake light module would go.
