FOB Battery Died
I'm currently touring up through Utah and stopped at a restaurant at Jacobs Lake on highway 89 in AZ. When I tried to start the bike only the alarm kept going off. A couple other Harley riders were watching my trouble the offered up a battery from their extra FOB. That didn't work. I've had the bike a little over three years now and couldn't remember if I had reset the security pin. I couldn't remember how to enter the pin either. One of the other riders had his manual with him and helped out. Yeah, I did reset my security pin and finally got the bike started. I found a store down the road a ways that sold the CR2032 battery. All is good now.

I always have spare batteries with me when I ride. They come in handy, especially on group rides. I buy a dozen at a time on Amazon...brand name and cheap. I also use them for my car fobs and a bunch of other stuff.
Be sure not to use the factory PIN and change it to a customized number. Many bikes are stolen because their owners don't bother changing the factory PIN.

I am with Route66 on this - buy extra batteries and take them with me. Fortunately, the GPS on my boat uses the same battery - so, I have plenty.
Curious - wonder why the battery they loaned you from their extra fob didn't work.
Also, when i ride, I always take my manual with me. When you get home and find yours, take a look a the back, they have a pushout card that offers space for you to record your pin number. You can put that in your wallet and it also has instructions. Fr me, it's like American Express - I never leave home without it.
Enjoy your trip.
