Yippeeee! My PTT problem is fixed at last!
After 7500 mi on my FLHTK, my PTT issue is resolved.
The problem was that with narrow/smaller hands, when I pushed the CB's PTT button, I have to keep a grip on the throttle as well, which was causing the squelch setting to change every time I pushed the PTT.
My mechanic pulled off the PTT button from it's stem, set the squelch at mid range, and slid a rubber grommet down the stem. This makes it very difficult (but not impossible) for the stem to move up and down and affect the squelch. He then put the PTT thumb button back on.
Limiting the up/down range of the stem prevents the squelch from changing as I do the PTT maneuver....Hooray!

I don't have small hands and it's a PITA to use the PTT button without affecting the throttle unless I have the CC on or just use my left hand!

OP has given me an idea though, maybe a rubber grommet or washer (similar to a garden hose washer) slipped over the end of the PTT switch. Might extend the edge a little and make it easier to reach the button, even a little bit would help. I know the button has up and down and push in movement, don't remember if there's a side to side (right-to-left) function. That might be the only problem, I'd be pushing on the right side of the button/washer. I'll try it later...

I am not happy with the positions of those buttons either. Trying to change the radio favorites requires using the right hand. That means maintaning throttle and sliding my hand over to reach the toggle that's even closer than the ptt. I often end up accidently rolling the throttle on suddenly. I thought it was just me! Can't wait until we start doing group rides and I want to use the CB. I can only see this getting worse with the longer reach.

Yeah...I think the PTT switch position on the right is pretty dangerous. I've written to HD, given them input via their Advisory Council, and talked to the Product people at Daytona about it. Sure hope they move it back to the left side in coming years. But for now.....I'm glad the fix works for me!

Ever heard of cruise control. I use mine regular and not a problem with the buttons. My 10 had push to talk on left and it was next to impossible with the clutch pulled in or while shifting. Since you don't use the cruise while clutch is in and shifting it made since to me the moving to right with the PTT. I had a problem using the cruise on the 10 and trying to hold the throttle. Got better with that as time went on. To each his own I guess.

Cruise Control is very difficult to use when you're in a group ride or you're coordinating some kind of on escort (Patriot Guard, etc) because you're not running a constant speed.
You only have to give the CC button a quick tap, you have to hold the PTT button in while talking.
That button for the odometer would have made a perfect PTT button!
