I have 5k on the bike and the rear cylinder heat shield has a area little bigger then a golf ball that has started pitting and rusting from the pits. The cat shield also has a few areas that have started to rust.
I keep my bike in a garage, so can only think that it must be a bad chroming job?
Used Mother's chrome polish to remove rust and after a couple of rides, the rust is back.

 

That sucks, i only have 500 miles, but other than wiping it down after everything cools, and the Mother's i don't have any other recommendations.

I have V and H pipes and i think they only carry a cosmetic warranty for 90 days...

 

Go talk with the dealer. Worst they can say is no and a good chance they might just good will it. Most of that stuff used to have a one year warranty on cosmetics and its not right that its doing that.
