Red Beret Riders go USA
Planning a bike trip for my Red Beret Riders Association from the Netherlands Europe.
Red Beret Riders' members are veterans who are serving or have served in the Netherlands 11 Airmobile Air Assault Brigade deployed in Mission Areas like Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, Bosnia, Kosovo etc. Dutch airmobile army soldiers conduct joint exercises in helicopter operations with the US 82nd Airborne Division on a regular base.
Our plan is to ship our bikes by boat from the Netherlands to New York in June 2019 and fly in from Amsterdam to New York.
We're looking into a ride heading SW over BRP towards TOD (see map).
Looking for info to visit/ride interesting sites/roads like Arlington Memorial, Historic Civil War sites etc.
Also surching for veteran friendly accomodations in that area.
Please advise? Your help is much appreciated and who knows we could arrange a meet!
Thanks, René

If you are interested in historic civil war sites, you really should put Gettysburg on your itinerary.

While in NYC, maybe check out the Intrepid.

No problem.
One of my favorite places to stay near the TOD area is the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge. I've only camped there, but they also offer cabins and bunk houses. You can't go wrong at this place. Highly recommend it.

Gettysburg is a must of course but also add Shiloh if you're coming through Nashville to Memphis. The 101st Airborne has a very nice museum more or less along the way, I'd be glad to meet you somewhere in the area if you're staying in Nashville. Another local Civil War site that I love seeing is Fort Donelson so if you hit the Tail of the Dragon and headed towards Nashville, you could go through Fort Campbell to Fort Donelson then down to Shiloh and even Vicksburg. Since you're planning on being close to Chattanooga, Chickamauga is nice to see as is Battle of Lookout Mountain.
Don't forget that the Jack Daniels distillery is between Chattanooga and Nashville. I'll buy a beer at the Cat West at Fort Campbell if you go that way.

Also looking for a safe place to park our bikes when visiting Nashville's Broadway Area.
Any advice on where to park our bikes?
