I agree with TWINCAM96 great place and the Adirondack Hotel has a nice resturant and view of the byplane over at the lake across the street. I would also consider staying at Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid just for all the resturants in the town.
Oh, I live in Ogdensburg, NY that's on the St. Lawrence River.
great area. I canoed Long Lake and the Raquette river in my younger days and also stayed at a beautiful campsite on Mirror Lake. I've backpacked Mount Marcy three or four times and just love that area. Lake placid is beautiful.
Born and raised in Utica. Spent summers working in the Adirondacks in my teens. Had a bike while there, awesome riding. Worked at the brewery (Matt’s/ Saranac) for a couple of summers while in school. Then, Ohio, Texas, Wisconsin and finally Mass for the last 20 years. Still get back to Utica to see family a few times a year and always make it a point to take a trip up to the old forge area while I’m there.

where are you in Mass, I’m in Ayer. I was also born in Utica and my grandparents had a house on the lake in Old Forge. Went to Americade last year and made it a point to do a ride to Old Forge for lunch and a visit to see some family and friends. Spent many of my summers there as a kid and remember going on the beer tours at Matt’s Brewery. My grandparents house was only a few miles from there.
