Default Maine south to ??

We are from Arizona.
Four of us have two weeks of vacation. The middle two weeks of Sept. We are thinking of shipping our bikes to Bangor, and see as much as we can, possably going to Nova Scotia, and then south along the coast as far as we get, then will ship bikes home.
We would like to stay on the coast, but looking for ideas. We have never ridden in the North East.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thx

Sounds like an awesome ride! Maine coast is beautiful.

If you don't mind a day (or maybe 2, but certainly can be done in 1) excursion inland, you can find some great riding in the White Mountains in NH. Route 16 North of about Wakefield, Route 302, and The Kankamagus highway (route 112) and route 3 all come to mind.

If you came into NH from say around Portland, you could come across Rt 25 I think it is, and catch 16 North in Ossipee.

You're picking a good time of year - weather will be just starting to cool off, and kids will have just gone back to school so vacation traffic will be considerably lighter. But leaves won't be turning yet, so no leaf peepers. Probably my favorite time of year here.

Ship the bikes to Portland and then take the ferry across to Nova Scotia. Saves huge mileage.

The entire east coast is busy and congested. Stay inland. If you want shore line go other direction to PNW norther Cali.
Message me a fax number. I have a bunch of New Eagland rides mapped out.

Stay away from I95. Congestion, construction, and confusion.

Anywhere on the New England coast is crowded and HEAVY traffic. Ride across Maine into the White Mountains and over to VT. Adirondack Mountains in NY and ship bikes from there.
