Meriden, CT. Dead center of the state. I saw better roads in Afghanistan than there are in town here right now, this winter really tore things up.

That's a nice run. I'm on 32 right over the state boarder, I run up that way, and usually a bit further north to Rte 2, and take that west, either to RT7 or 8, or all the way to Troy, NY, then south and back through the southern Berkshires.

How are the roads that way , and how long does it take you to n.y. Border ?

Default South Windsor

An earlier post mentioned the roads and nice riding in East Windsor.. I couldn't agree more, it's a beautiful farm setting with rolling hills and wide open fields for sight seeing.

A favorite long ride of mine is to head up into Granby CT on 189 into Granville MA. Then rt. 57 west to the intersection of rt 8 in Sandisfield MA. For shorter run take 8 south back into CT pick up 44 towards Hartford. Or for a longer run 8 north up into the Berkshires where there is limitless miles of beautiful riding with ever changing types of terrain. Pick up the mohawk trail and ride route 2 out to greenfield. Then you have the option of I-91 south or stay on the back roads and return to CT.

I live in Granby, so I do something like this with some frequency. Rte 57, though, just plain sucks. Washboard. I'll go 57 up into Granville then cut north to Westfield and take MA Rte 20 to Rte 8. Can go N from there or back down 8 into CT, then CT Rte 20 back to Granby, or go a bit further South and ride along the Farmington down to 44 in New Hartford, back up along Rte 219 (next to Lake McDonough....don't miss this part of the ride if you are in the area) and back to CT Rte 20.

Doing MA Rte 20 makes it longer...so 57 is good to keep it quicker, but its just not that nice a stretch of country and the road sucks, lol.

The link below does not seem to be working right, so the above is a screen grab. About 2.5 hrs of riding.

And I finally got out for an hour ride last night after work....OMG did that feel good...missed it. Been way too long a winter.

I also have to agree. I'm in East Windsor and the riding here is beautiful. Very close to both TSI in Ellington and Gengras in East Hartford. Someof my best rides are looping around East Windsor, Ellington, Somers, and Enfield with all the hills and farm land. Especially the big hill on Frog Hollow. Can't beat it. Riding into Suffield and then Windsor Locks behind the air port is great too because it's a nice ride up to the Lake McDonough/Barkhamstead reservoir.

I live in the Quiet Corner.
Should be ready for the riding season very soon.
Haven't been riding much since 2012.
I hope to put on a few thousand miles this year.
