Dee Snider's 4th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride
 

On Sunday, May 21, 2006, an estimated 2,000 motorcyclists will join Dee Snider (radio personality and lead singer of Twisted Sister) and the March of Dimes in the fight against premature birth at Dee Snider’s 4th Annual Bikers for Babies Ride. Registration begins at 9:00am at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale.
Premature birth is a tremendous problem in the United States, affecting more than 480,000 babies and their families each year. It is the leading cause of death for babies during their crucial first month of life and since 1981, the rate of premature birth has risen a staggering 27% with nearly 50% of all premature births having no known cause. Together with Dee Snider, the March of Dimes hopes to raise money to pursue its mission of improving the health of babies, preventing birth defects and infant mortality.

And there is a raffle for a 2006 Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider. Tickets are $20 each or six for $100, with all proceeds to benefit the March of Dimes.

Registration includes lunch, entertainment, vendors and a RIDE pin. All pre-registered riders will also receive a commemorative patch.

We do that ride every year, definitely doing again this year, Mark the Bass player from TS is a good friend of mine so I hook him up with the Uniform Bike escort.

I've never heard anything bad said about Dee. I met him back when I was a college DJ and he was the BEST! I wish I could make the ride, but I'll be on my way back from Myrtle Beach. Next year for sure!

The end of ride usually s u c k s, (Bald Hill) so in years past we do the ride then head off somewhere for a bite to eat. But I'm game for whatever everyone else wants to do.

I think Freedom Ride is on the same day and starting at the Nassau Collesium. That is also a nice ride to the city which is police escorted and traffic blocked going in and out of the city. I am thinking of doing this ride instead. Have to see.

Freedom ride is on Saturday the 20th, and March of Dimes is on Sunday the 21st, I'll be riding in both.
