Moco recommends GL-1 spec in the tranny.........doesnt matter what name is on the label.......But I prefer Amsoil.

RE: Spectro 75W-140 6-speed transmission oil
The Spectro GL5 has a additive the way I understand that creates a so called pad as the helical gear slides together. I believe anyone that has a new 6 speed will be able to tell the difference, those with older bikes or straight cut gears could use this oil but may not benifit to the same degree. The Spectro GL1 would probably be fine for straight cut tranny gears. I use the GL1 in a SE 6 speed gear set in a 06 Street Glide.

I posted this above, however-
"Bates #2 in Dallas has both the Amsoil 20 50 and the specto new 6 sp platinum Heavy Duty, Im going to try the spectro tomorrow, Ill tell ya'll what I think, Im running the Mobil one 75 140 now, much better than HD fluid they had in it. I dont mind changing it out every few weeks till I find the one I like best. The Red Line HD Shock Pruff is available around here too, after I go thu the amsoil trial (if Im not totaly satified w spectro), all try that. Im happy with Mobil 1 15 50 syn in the primary and will probly leave that be for now. I will try the Amsoil 20 50 crank case at 2500, Im at 1800 now. The specto is pretty high dollar by comparison. but the Mobil One wasnt cheap either. The Red Line Shock Pruff Heave Duty Is about 9 bucks. "
" At about 150 milles I see only a very small if any improvement over the Mobil 1, Ill give it another day or two."
I would be interested in hearing some other's opines after they try it. I'm leaving in a little while fore I try the shock proof

With Spectro make sure you get the synthetic because they may also make the regular tranny oil.

I've tried most of the trans oils made specifically for the transmissions (redline,M1 and others) and found the Spectro to be the best yet.

After about 500 miles I am liking the spectro more n more, the shifting has quieted down a whole lot, still clunky when its cold, but let it warm up a little and for the most part its smooth sailing, Im done experimenting for now, the spectro has me.

FOR NOW I use what ever the dealer puts in after the two year deal and I start doing my own stuff I will refer back to this thread. For now if the tranny gets a little loud I just turn up the ZZ top in the cd player.
