Default Redline 5w50 Early Results...It works!

Ran the Redline 5w50 for about 700 miles, and 10 months. I had the oil analyzed and there were some good and bad. I like the cold startup characteristics of this oil as there was way less chatter, was very easy to start and the oil circulated twice as fast as the 20w50. When fully warm the engine sounded great and temps were about the same. It did shear a bit but no where near what I was expecting, seem to hold up really well. I did not notice any increase in fuel mileage or a huge reduction of wear metals as I expected, I created a ratio formula to compare both oil runs to get this information. There was some fuel contamination and high silicone that I was disappointed about but these may be another issue. However, the question for me has been answered and that is that it is perfectly ok to run 5w50 with the right setup in a 96 c.u. in HD.

No only 700 miles, didn't get to ride much last year but wanted to see how this oil was trending.

I don't know what you were running on your last UOA but I would put it back in. Wear numbers are higher. Look at aluminum 2 ppm @ 700 miles and 3 ppm @ 3900 miles. Copper 6 ppm @ 700 miles and 16 ppm @ 3900 miles. Lets say you ran this oil to 4200 miles.(just for simplicity) Copper may be @ 42 ppm and aluminum @ 14 ppm.

May also want to look into the fuel dilution.
