I had been using the Mobile 1 V-twin for some time. On my last change the parts store was out so I gave the Lucas a try. First thing I noticed was that my valve train was much quieter, also noticed that my engine Temps are down slightly although I can't confirm that it had anything to do with the oil. As for the Castrol I've been using their 10-40 Dino bike oil in a metric that's pushing 100k miles since it was new and I've never had any complaints.

I put Lucas Oil 10702-PK6 High Performance Synthetic 20W-50 Motorcycle Oil, Lucas Oil 10790 Chain Case Oil, Lucas Oil 10791 Gear Oil. Can't believe how much quieter and smother it runs and shifts. Had The HD full synthetic when I bought it. I have a Baker 6spd and I talked to them they recommended it for there trans. Very happy with all 3.

Hey F150, I'd stick with the Mobil V-Twin oil ! Did you notice the Castrol bottle said "Full Synthetic', & the Lucas bottle said Synthetic, I think it's a Semi-Syn Blend ! All you need is a drop of Synthetic, to call it Synthetic, But, if it states Full Synthetic, it better be !
I'm looking at an oil study dated March, 2006; they put 16 M/C 20W-50 thru 12 tests, Mobil V-Twin came in 2nd. Lucas HP came in 12th. Castrol GPS came in 15th & Castrol V-Twin came in 16th. Both Castrols were a Syn/Dino Blend. Lucas was a Synthetic.
In another study dated June, 2009, they tested 17 20W-50 M/C oils; Mobil V-Twin came in 2nd again. Castrol V-Twin came in 14th. Lucas HP came in 16th. Looks like Castrol got better, & Lucas got worse ! Note; Belray was the most expensive, came in 13th, just ahead of Castrol V-Twin, Go Figure ! Note; If there was a current test study, some oils would do better, & some would be worse ? Some are constantly on top, AMSOIL & Redline use ONLY #4 Basestocks. Mobil is using a #3 Basestock, after taking Castrol to court 10/12 years ago. Google it ! Good Luck !
PS, Don't use Mobil 15W-50 car oil or Rotella Diesel oil, or BYE, BYE Warranty !

Thanks.

Syn3, Mobil1 all of it is running $12+ a quart and Lucas/Castrol were 30% cheaper so thought I'd ask.

Anyway, found a deal online on Mobil 20w-50 V Twin for around 8.50ish a quart so did a volume buy. Price will only go up. So, tabling the Lucas and Castrol for now, but, still nice to have options.

Did run the 15-50 in my TC88 Fatboy and it ran ok. Some folks swear by it. But yea, its for cars, so.....

Actually, some would argue 15W50 is for a Motor. Not just a automobile motor, just one that doesn't share the clutch oil with the motor. This is why I don't pay more for motorcycle specific oils except for the primary. What it boils down to, buy what YOU think is best and what you feel makes your bike run better.

Nobody outside Mobil knows what their proprietary formula is, but if you read this on the internet, it must be true...

Well I've been running the Walmart 15-50 Mobil 1 synthetic since late 2009 in the engine of my 2010 103 Limited with no problems. $23 for a 5 quart jug averages out $4.60 a quart.

M1 15-50 easy to get & works good in my cooled 88 . Cheap enough to change often.
