Default Royal Purple HPS Syn 20w-50 all 3 holes

I just helped a buddy who just put this an all 3 holes. Now after 400 miles he is worried about the tranny/clutch. Anyone know if this should/could cause any issues. The bottle says its a gas/diesel oil, but I don't know about any friction modifiers. Thoughts?

It's a '08 Super glide I think

Not a fan of RP products & (IMO) motor oil is for engine, GO is for tranny & primary oil is for clutch...I never use same in all areas.

If it feels good, the clutch isn't slipping and he's happy ,don't worry about it.Rp 20-50 is for motorcycles he should be fine.If your ever in question about motor oil then look on the back of the bottle. You will see a circle, in that circle it will say "api service sn - resourse concerving"that means it has the friction modifiers that car engines today need. That also means it is NOT!! good for wet clutches.primary oil is a matter of opinion.Truth is any good motorcycle oil will work.Find one and stick with it,it is not good to constantly switch oils in the primary. Some oils do not mix well together and will cause clutch issues.I also do not use the same oil in all three holes

Good deal. Thanks for that info. I still have the empties in my garage, so I will have a look.

He just said today that he's "not feeling the royal purple in the tranny" just wondered if there were any issues.

Rp is as good as any oil and lube. You can safely run 20/50 syn in all 3 if you like. There is no reason you can not.
Many get caught up on the viscosity of trans lube. No major difference in 20/50 engine oil and your 75-90 gear lubes . They use two system to measure them . If measured they same way they come out even.
It comes down to one thing what helps you sleep at night.

I've used RP in all my bikes but used the Max-cycle 20w-50. Not familiar with the HPS oils- if formulated for automobiles, it's possible it has friction modifiers that may not be suitable for primary use.
