So who on God's earth shared that tidbit of misinformation to you. You can only damage the clutch by once using energy conserving oil, and even then, it's most likely not fatal to the clutch unless you don't change it. The clutch heats up and cools off. The small amount of the last oil change will effectively flush out of the fibers. As long as it's wet clutch safe oil you are using, feel free to find the clutch feel you are looking for. It's what I did and am now happy with my choice.

I did not like the way the friction point felt with Syn3, Amsoil 20/50, or any synthetic 20/50 I tried for that matter. Formula+ I liked and Mobil1 AFT I like. IOW, I've tried many, some only for a few hundred miles, and my clutch is fine. If it ain't slipping, it's good to go.

I don't know if they use the same clutch material but my V rod clutch def had the best feel an smoothest operation with amsoil...I tried lucas before that an it was night an day better. I'm either going with mobile 1 10w40 mc or rotella in my primary next change.
