I need to run an oil pressure gauge on this "83" XL1000. Where would be the best place to bring the line from to the gauge. The gauge will be located as close to the motor as I can get it to be read at a glance while ridding. This bike has no dash and very limited wiring (chopper). If at all possible I would like the gauge to show some pressure at idle but more accurate at operating speeds. Am I asking to much.

 

 

I'm not seeing any ports on the cam chest. On "85" XL models with a cam oiler there is a NPT plug in an available port between the rocker box feed lines. The "83" XL model this nonexistent. I do have NPT plugs on the front of both rocker boxes. I do not think I would get a good pressure reading from this location. I simply do not know, that is why I'm asking for help.
