I wouldn't advise it. Rode behind a guy on a Shovel for 90 miles with 60wt Amsoil in his oil bag. I had oil all over me and my Bike.

The old synthetics weren't compatible with some seals. The ones we have now seem fine so I don't see a problem but synthetic oil runs seems to run thinner and that might be an issue. I'd stay with regular oil in that bike.

GD get over it! Shovelhead I would go with badcooky straight 50/60. Also note to bigal51, We had a rider in our club with the same problem, no one would ride behind him either. It was not the oil weight it was just bad maintenance.

Ok, I'll take that deal. Did you want one or two quarts?

I wouldn't, in fact I don't on any of my Harley engines. I have an S&S engine in one bike and they recommend synth for that, but it isn't necessary IMHO otherwise. By all means try it, but if that means spending more cash to do so, then don't bother!

Synthetic oil will get by any stock shovel/pan pushrod tubes. Fact of life.
