Is my oil overfilled?

Is my oil overfilled?
Had my regular dealer do the 40,000 mile service on my TriGlide. 2 days after the service, I did a 200 mile round trip all freeway mileage. So, that Involved 80 mph 75% of the time. I could smell oil burning on the exhaust. So,I pulled over and could tell I had oil coming out of the SE air cleaner. By the time I got home the entire right side was covered with oil. I later checked the oil, with the engine cold. Check out the attached picture of the dipstick. I used my sucker to suck it down to 1/2 way between add & full. It always seemed happy at that point. I then spent 1 hour cleaning all the oil off the bike.
Today I did a 100 mile round trip, and now no more oil splatter.
WTF? Did the dealer tech leave 1/2 quart of oil in the motor, and then add a full 4 quarts? That’s the only way I can figure they got it that overfilled.

Definitely not an "A" mechanic assigned to change your oil. You know now to check it after serviced. I would show the service manager that photo and tell him that your very disappointed with that service. Maybe you`ll get a voucher or something.

Agree Qdog, that looks way over and somebody didn't bother to check it after filling. Definitely hit the dealer and make it known. Because odds are good it wasn't just your bike that tech did it to. HD's have a problem pulling oil anyway, even when serviced properly...can only imagine how much oil was pulled out and sprayed down the side of your bike Trigeezer. Believe me, I've been there, pita cleaning it afterward.
