Default crank case pressure

i have a 2011 road king just put a new top end on it also it was a 96 now its a 103. i rode it about 60 miles then found i was blowing oil out of my intake a lot , i had to add almost a qt of oil, started my bike up no leaks but it ran for about 3 min, and i check the oil again when i took the oil cap loose it had so much pressure built up it almost blew my cap off in my hand, What could be the cause of this

well right off, it sounds like the ring seal is not up to snuff. it may/may not correct itself. a leak down test will verify % of leakage.

if hes blowing oil out of the intake.. its coming from the breather tubes

stop running the bike, youre going to blow all the seals and o rings out, average seals and O rings are designed to handle 2-7psi at various locations..

so.. i second the rings.. sounds like the are either installed incorrectly, upside down (rolled edge up instead of down) or wrong order on the piston, maybe stuck, or worse yet, broke while putting the cylinder back on

your oil ring seems to be on correctly since you didnt mention youre burning oil, so youre compression rings are in question..

Start with a leak dwn test, and most important a person that knows how to work it.

After build first thing I do is work the motor threw all the he gears then coast in gear down to 2000rpm, mile after mile to seat the rings. You don't want to rev high but be somewhat agressive. My dip stick blew out with in a mile of my build, didn't notice till I got back. After 4 miles I worked the motor hard. Now I have no blow by, hoses to the ground nothing but moisture comes out. It doesn't burn any oil after 45,000 miles. First 200 miles are when the rings need seated or they won't.

imho this is exactly how to break in a bike and the method i use. Low throttle openings but allowing the revs to build then full off the throttle to let the compression help seat everything. Every 150-200 miles i increase rpm i cut the throttle by around 1k.

the only bike i have with breather issues is my dyna i bought used... i go through a new air filter every 6 months. Dont forget that when the air filter gets clogged its easier for the motor to pull air from through the breathers. I would definitely see how your air cleaner looks and if its oily toss it.

It's possible that one of the rocker box gaskets are reversed and is blocking one of the breather holes. This would increase crankcase pressure and blow oil into the intake as described (the properly installed side). You can actually see an improperly installed rocker box gasket from the outside.

Another possibility is an improperly installed oil pump. Was the pump installed by itself or was it connected to the cam plate? If the O-ring isn't positioned properly on the scavenge tube the pump can't evacuate the sump properly.
