[QUOTE=P51Driver;17520304 Also can anybody tell me what the viscosity of HD Formula+ is?[/QUOTE]
Formula + will have a viscosity of ~20 cSt at 100C. Formula + VOA
That is in the 50 weight motor oil viscosity range.
Red line also offers a 75w-110 gear oil that is also ~ 20 Cst at 100 C.

Yeah, I realize this is an old thread but it’s amazing how HD revises their specs and recommendations when they start selling a product. They used to advise against synthetic motor oil until they came out with Syn3. For all these years they’ve recommended Formula+ (decent product BTW) without ever disclosing its viscosity rating. I’m sure a lot of dealership service departments recommended against heavy weight gear pull in favor of Formula +. Now, surprise! 80w140 is the preferred lubricant.

No it is not. I live and ride year round in Wisconsin. Run SYN 75 -140 in transmission have for years. Now running HD SYN 80-140 in the primary also and it has been working great. SYN have changed all the old rules.

75w -140
Been using Spectro Platinum oils in all my Harleys for years. No issues. That and Red Line are great oils. Spectro oil is used by the mechanics at my local Harley dealership. You can't go wrong using Spectro oils..
