Default oil leak and what are these bolts

Hello Everybody,

Did a 3 hole change recently now have a leak on the left side frame. Saw other threads regarding the stator plug etc and don;t see any leaks coming from there. Also saw where some people will have it dripping for days on the cross member of the frame. Wiped that clean and no oil from there. Also don't see any drips from the oil filter itself. What I did discover is oil on these bolts.....Can someone tell me what these are and if they are a source of a possible leak or just getting oil from somewhere else? Is this an engine mount bolt? Can you also ell me what this plug is since it also seems to have oil all over it? Both are located on the front side, lower part of engine right of the kickstand. Important to note that I did the 3 hole in a 2 week spread. I discovered the oil after changing the engine oil and transmission fluid. I can't say that it wasn't there prior, but I believe I would have noticed.

You're looking at the front engine mount #12 and the bolts #5. When you remove the oil filter, oil usually drops down on these parts.

Default Oil leak

Thank you for the response. The link is awesome and will defintately come in handy in addition to my service manual. I think I may have found the source but do not know what the bolt is to. Unfortunately I cannot take a pic because is is too far up in the underside of the engine. If I follow the drip on the left frame I see a bolt in front of the belt but a little higher up that has oil on it. I am wondering if this is a bolt to one of the pans that I changed fluid in. Its a slow drip now and as I think about it, prior to the three hole, did have a small puddle on the garage floor. My thinking was, could have been lawn mower, snow blower etc..again, sorry no pics on that one, but am hoping someone has an idea based on location.

Please see attempted photos. Sorry they are done by a mirror. Tried to take a pic of the belt in reference to the bolt.

I think you're looking at the Shift Rod Lever #18. It's clamped to a shaft - SHIFT MECHANISM W/ 34064-00C & 34987-06. There is a seal #35, on that shaft as it passes out of the trans housing, that can leak at times.

Thank you 14GuineaPig,

Really appreciate the help! 40 years of riding and I'm still learning about bikes. Silly continued question, any idea how to get to it to change it?

You'll have to remove the inner primary to get to it. It's a fairly labor intensive task but not too complicated. If you take it to the dealer, you're probably looking at around $300 labor to replace a $3.00 seal. Watch some youtube videos along with reading the service manual and decide which route to take..
