Amsoil 20W-40..
Hoping someone can give me good news here......
Was winterizing my bike (2007 FXDB) a few weeks back and did an oil change. I recently moved back to Calgary Canada from San Diego. Was running the Amsoil Synthetic 20W-50 in SD. Went to Calgary HD to get oil (obviously my first mistake...) and asked if they had amsoil. They didn't have any out on display but he grabbed me some from the back. Without looking closely at it or thinking anything of the red cap I came home. As I was in the middle of the oil change I realized it was 20W-40 instead of 20W-50 (this stuff https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...otorcycle-oil/). Should I be doing another oil change to get 20W-50 in it? Or at this elevation (3400 ft) is the different weight better? That seems to be the only difference I can think of.

Haha no. It's parked right now. The weather lately has been really "nice" for January but I imagine it won't be ridden for a few more months.

My bet is you'll be okay until April or maybe even May, but yeah, they sold you the wrong stuff. I've no idea what a Harley shop is doing with that unless they had it left over from when they sold Indian as well. I would wait until it warms up though to change it. Once it gets into the 20s (70s) you'll likely want 20W50 in there.
That's parts guys for you. I couldn't get Harley Formula+ for my primary from Kanes. They flat out refused to sell it to me insisting I needed Syn3. Strange stuff happens sometimes. Most of the time you can get Amsoil from Newfie Speed & Sport (Canadian Tire) or even Wally World. There's a couple of guys local on Kijiji that sell out of their garages for a way better deal, and they generally have stock. I just plan ahead and order online for the best deal.

Such lessons are never free, eh? At least $80 isn't the most expensive lesson you'll ever learn. I found out a couple of summers back that towing a big trailer with a stage 3 tune in my 5.9 Cummins into the Rockies is a recipe for clutch smoke. Clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and rear main seal, $4K and change. Lesson learned! Vacation ruined, wife PISSED! Apparently the stock clutch can't hold 800ft/lbs torque ... who knew? I'd have taken an $80 lesson in a heartbeat ... Lol
