Default Castrol Oil

I don’t know if this is a Canadian thing or not, but I’ve noticed very little mention of Castrol oil in this forum (not even mentioned in the poll). This is my go to oil for all my vehicles and just noticed that Castrol 20W50 motorcycle oil is on sale, $6.50/litre (Cdn), approximately $5.00/quart (U.S.).

I have been using Castrol 20w50 for many years. Several years ago there was a sale on Castrol 20w50 4T motorcycle oil, at 2 dollars per quart.

I bought enough to last until I`m too old to ride anymore...

I was actually just looking at this stuff today for my Sportster. I have never seen it in the stores before, normally the only oil that I can find is the Mobil 1 for V-Twins. I might stop by a shop tomorrow and pick some up.

I've been using it for a couple of decades or so in my Evo.
Full disclosure: I'm one of those folks who changes engine oil and filter every 2500-3000 mi.

I bought a few cases of the Castrol GO 4T 20/50 recently on-line for pretty cheap-it has a mc picture on it. I use it because it is SG/Jaso MA2 rated. In 01 I bought a GW 1800 and the OM was the first that I had that spec'd JASO rated oil OR SG. I think (long time ago) that was when the additive packs had taken a big change. I saw that AMSOIL said it met the req. for warranty and looked at a bottle--it was SG rated--no Jaso at all mentioned. Non metric Jaso oil was about zero back then. If you happened to have a bunch of older oil around you could satisfy warranty if it was SG. I figure that SG/Jaso MA2 should be good enough still. Most of the current Castrol that I have seen doesn't carry this or any rating. For me oil choice can revolve around warranty and 20/50. I used to get a Kawasaki 20/50 that carried the appropriate diesel ratings but they don't make it any more as far as I can tell in 20/50. It wasn't that expensive. If I can't find the Castrol stuff any more when I run out I ,with current choices, will probably to to 15/50 Mystik.

I am really liking the castrol, but my engine gaskets have started leaking. I am quite sure that it is from age, as my bike is 12 years old and still has all original parts on it.
