Heavy Synthetic Gear Oil Transmission and primary chaincase lubricant

I just had my 5,000 mile service done on my M8 Heritage. I use a full synthetic motorcycle specific oil in the engine. Formula + in the primary and for the hell of it. I had the new synthetic 80W-140 put in the transmission. I liked the Formula + in the transmission used prior to this service. But the new Harley gear oil is even better than the Formula +. The shifting is much smoother and neutral is easier to find using the synthetic Harley 80W-140 gear oil.

Here's my initial impression of the new HD gear lube. I have been running Redline 75w90 for about 6,000 miles, so my comparisons are to it.
1. Clutch engagement seems much smoother.
2. Still clunks going from neutral to first, but gear changes are smoother.
3. Doesn't smell like gear oil, it really doesn't have much of an odor at all. It has an amber color in the bottle, but is really almost clear.
I'll know more when the weather heats up how it acts in 90+ temps. Initial impression, good stuff.

2009 heritage serviced and ready to go with Amsoil in engine, HD gear oil in primary and redline shock proof in tranny.
Rode it about 20 miles yesterday and I noticed a big difference in clutch feel and shifting. It seemed smoother and quieter all the way around. Of course, it always feels that way to me after a service! Time will tell, but I did feel a difference.
My old set up was with bel-ray in primary and tranny.
Keep ya posted !

Guys, when you first change oil of course it will shift smoother.
I have only used Mobil 1 in my bike since new and guess what, it shifts smoother and runs cooler and quieter each time I change it and I’m using same brand and viscosity.
Most of you change oil oil brands and viscosity so often it’s probably not a great way for comparison.
I feel anyone would be hard pressed to find an oil that failed. And if so it’s very rare.
Oh and yesterday when I bought an oil filter for my bike, the parts guy said the new M8’s don’t have a sumping issue.

Funny because I called my dealer yesterday and asked them because I read on here the dealers are recommending run a severe gear oil in the trans. I called my local dealer and he didn’t recommend synthetic or the severe gear oil in the trans. He actually recommended running the conventional oil in the trans and synthetic oil in both the primary and motor. Was definitively a shocker to me!! I figured like most say they are going to recommend the most expensive
