Default Sporster oil filter stuck.

This sucker is stuck and the screwdriver method just made it worse, any tips to take it off?

Longer screwdriver that will pierce both sides at once to give more grab and torque

Wow what a mess. Try this.
Remove the rest of the filter housing leaving the base.
Spray with PB Blaster and let penetrate over night.
Heat rubber with hair dryer.
Put strap wrench around base and turn. Or pinch with channel locks and turn.

Yep, strap wrench or a big set of channel locks. When you finally get it off buy a filter wrench for the new filter.

as close to the cylinder as you can (right side) then punch the screwdriver into the filter, best chance to get a grab and get it to turn. I have also found some times a screw drives is just a little too skinny and will just tear the filter. Get a metal spike with a bigger diameter. You need something that will turn and not rip the filter. Good luck.

heat it with heat gun to soften rubber seal/gasket
use channellocks as close to base as possible

note, in case you're not aware, Channellocks are directional and the teeth only "bite" in one direction

I saw a video where a guy took the filter wrench he had, which was the black cap that slips over the filter an put a few holes in it an screwed it to the filter an it took it right off.
