No big conspiracy here....
Good to know. It's my first bike, and only having done service with my previously owned cars at dealerships - I just assumed, that bringing my bike to the dealer would've resulted in getting H-D Synthetic oil put in when asked if I wanted conventional or synthetic.
After doing reading about Klotz, I'm fine with it - just surprised that it wasn't H-D.
I plan on doing changes myself moving forward anyways.

Thanks to all that replied!

My dealer generally uses H-D oil. My tech there recommended Redline for primary or transmission, I forget which, but asked for my OK before doing it.

My dealer offers HD and Redline for no additional cost. I've been using redline in all three holes for over 60,000 miles. Engine now has 92,000 miles and is still running great.

No that's a dealer that cares about the customer. They offer a couple extra choices at one of my near by dealership Ray C's, but it is extra, one of them is Schaeffer's. I like like to change my own oils, got 2,000 and I'm about ready to pull the plug.

Yes, mine too. You need to be specific on what you want. Same as at a car dealer. If you tell then you want synthetic oil, you could get anything. Ya need to be specific. Don’t blame the dealer.

They charged you for 1 qt trans Oil, 1 qt Primary Oil and 5 qts of Klotz. That's 2 qts too many!

I have been using Valvoline 4 stroke Motorcycle 20W-50 Full Synthetic. Works fine and on sale at Advance for $7.86/quart. Smells better than Syn 3 too.
